Project objectives

The HPSCoach-EDU project aims to build capacity among national sports federations and universities to empower sports coaches to promote health, through the development of bespoke health promotion coaching education.

The HPSCoach-EDU project seeks to support national sports federations and universities by positioning them as agents of change and multipliers, in their efforts to reach coaches across grassroots clubs.

Project partners

The HPSCoach-EDU project gathers highly qualified project partners, including 10 partners and one associated partner, across six countries (France, Ireland, Finland, Sweden, Switzerland, Germany). They represent diverse and complementary organisation from the project target groups (Universities, Umbrella organisations, National Sports Federation. Five academic partners and four sports or health sectors partners will foster a balance and ensure a smooth translation of evidence into non-scientific way of dissemination. Moreover, partners come from both the health and the sport sector, bridging the intersectoral gap and helping to foster work habits and common culture on HPSC. This complementarity will allow for the representation of all interests, needs and expectations of the project target groups, and ensure that all objectives and tasks of the project are well completed with the necessary expertise.

Technological University of the Shannon

The Technological University of Shannon (TUS) is the sole higher education provider servicing the midlands in Ireland and was named as the Sunday Times Institute of Technology of the Year for 2020. The mission of the SHE Research Centre in the Department of Sport and Health Sciences of TUS is to bridge the gender data gap in sport, health and exercise science research. There are three pillars of research in SHE: nutrition and health, sport performance and exercise and health.

World Health Organisation Regional Office for Europe

The WHO Regional Office for Europe is one of WHO’s six regional offices around the world.
